As a lifesaver in Surfer's Paradise, Australia, Heather Cameron secretly used her mutant powers to help those in need. Her life, as well as that of her brother Davis Cameron, changed the day they met the X-Men. Marked for death by the Chinese Triad after her father, the Australian crimelord Viceroy was killed, the team of X-Men led by Storm sought to help them. Attacked by assassins, Heather was forced to publicly reveal her mutant nature to save herself. Heather subsequently joined the X-Men as Lifeguard, and aided in repelling an alien invasion during which she began manifesting traits of the alien Shi'ar race. Unwittingly frightening her brother away, Heather left the X-Men to find him. She later joined Charles Xavier's X-Corporation in its Mumbai, India branch until its destruction.

Powers

Lifeguard is able to subconsciously manifest superhuman powers dependent on whatever is necessary to save lives in any given situation. After being in space her shape-shifting DNA brought out her natural Shi'ar heritage, granting her clawed hands and wings along with the Shi'ar eye markings.
