Mrs. Tabby is the cousin of King Felis of the Valley of Pussycats in Merryland. Like all the residents of the Valley, she is a cat. She lives at number 16 with her niece, Flitter, and two gray kittens who belonged to Mrs. Mewling (a cat whose home was too small to fit all of her children).

When Dot Freeland and Tot Thompson visited the Valley, Mrs. Tabby hosted Tot for dinner.
