Hoping to save Gail Leslie from the clutches of The Living Ghost, Tony Brand enlists Professor Mavelli's aid in contacting The Dark Phantom. Using his crystal ball in a seance, the Professor conjures the emissaries of the Phantom. Once there, the emissaries take Tony and return him to the Phantom's Tibetan lair.

Professor Mavelli is known as the "World's Greatest "Medium". Using a crystal ball, he contacts the spirit world with astounding results. He possesses significant knowledge of the occult and the supernatural.
