Lizard was a professional criminal that ran afoul of the detective, Ace Harlem. After he and his unnamed partner robbed a restaurant, with Lizard strangling the owner to death with his chain, they returned to their rented room. When his partner tried to get his cut of the robbery, Lizard strangled him too. As Ace Harlem climbed the stairs to his room, Lizard tried to ambush him, but was blinded by the detective's flashlight. Flailing about, he smashed through the railing and broke his neck on his own chain.
