*The Perils of Pauline (1947) is a fictionalized biopic of Pearl White, with Betty Hutton playing both White and her iconic 1914 serial role, Pauline Marvin.

* Perils of Pauline inspired several productions such as Perils of Nyoka and Perils of Penelope Pitstop.
* In the same year, Pearl White starred in a similar film serial, The Exploits of Elaine, released by Pathé Exchange, Pearl also plays a young heiress, Elaine Dodge, who is helped by scientist detective Craig Kennedy, created by Arthur B. Reeve.
* In 1916, White played Margery Golden. Margery is kidnapped as a small child by Legar, The Iron Claw, who loses one of his hands in a fight with Margery's father, Enoch Golden. The girl grows up among thieves and is about to embark on a life of crime when she is rescued by a mysterious hero known only as Laughing Mask.
* Despite popular associations, Pauline was never tied to a railroad track in the series, an image that was added to popular mythology by scenes in stage melodramas of the 1800s, in serials featuring the resourceful "railroad girl" Helen Holmes in her long-running series The Hazards of Helen, and in other railroad-themed Holmes cliffhangers such as The Girl and the Game. The images of Holmes' railroad adventures were blended in the public mind with Pearl White's cliffhanging adventures, probably because White became the bigger celebrity.
