The '''Giant Lunar Moth''' is a huge alien insect native to the moon that is cable of flight through the void of outer space, traveling to the Earth and back again. Their bodies are black, but covered in light-brown hair, with green legs and massive, delicate scaly wings colored blue and red.

When at rest, their wings fold close to their bodies. Their eyes are described as being strange, but also beautiful. They act as pollinators to the giant flowers of the moon, and can also feed on Earth honey. If befriended, the Giant Lunar Moth can carry several riders atop its back across long distances. During celestial migration, passengers are advised to wear Moon Bells, large orange flowers native to the moon, over their heads, as they provide enough oxygen to breathe in the vacuum of space.

The creature, though incredibly rare, are seemingly immortal, with some known members living on for centuries. All plant and animal lifeforms on the moon are highly intelligent and are all part of a great Council, containing representatives of all species - with the exception of Moon Cats. The Council oversees that there is no conflict among the different species, dictating how many of each plant's seeds are to be allowed to grow and how many are to become food for the birds and insects
