In the year 2023, Rex, Joan, the Professor and Axel were members of the Super-Police. They took on criminals such as the wizard-pirate Captain Kiddlaw.

They traveled in the Hi-Lo, a super-plane, which received distressed calls on "photolight". It traveled around the Earth by creating a "tubular wall of cosmic rays" and which allowed the vehicle to speed through water, air, or even the vacuum of space. It was also armed with "cosmic ray guns" and other high-tech weapons and detection instruments.
