'''Myra Maynard''' is a young woman born with clairvoyant abilities. One day, the spirit of her deceased father reaches out to her from beyond the grave and warns her of danger posed by the Black Order, a secret occult organization that lurk in the shadows and use magic, curses, metaphysical assaults, and any other supernatural means possible to achieve its ends. The Grand Master of the Order, who wants to claim her fortune, has her marked for murder on her eighteenth birthday.

Seeking help, she turns to the world's first psychic detective, Dr. Payson Alden, and his Brahman friend Haji the mystic. Only they can protect her from from the threats posed to end her life, from suicide-inducing spells, invasion of her chamber by invisible spirit assassins, and even reanimation of the dead by a fire elemental.

*Author and investigator of psychic phenomena Hereward Carrington was the primary consultant and creative for the serial, which featured the first instances of "realistic" supernatural concepts such as automatic writing and astral projection to the screen.
