'''John Titor''', also known as '''TimeTravel_0''' is the supposed identity of a fictional time traveler created as a hoax. From the years 2000-2001, posts were made by Titor claiming to be an American soldier from the year 2036, who had been sent back in time (through the Many World Hypothesis) to warn of a civil war in 2005 while on a mission to collect a computer from 1975.

Titor’s posts claim that, in 2005, a second American Civil War would begin, erupting into war by 2008. The United States would split into five sectors, until the civil war culminated in World War III in 2015 known as "N Day". In 2011, at the age of 13, Titor joined a Floridian infantry unit known as the Fighting Diamondbacks. He is stated to have hid from the war.

Eventually, the Government hired him for a mission to go back to 1975 for an IBM 5100 computer to debug various programs, with the reasoning that his grandfather was involved in the creation of the 5100. Travelling across universes in what was essentially time travel, Titor took a pause in the year 2000 in order to collect photographs that were destroyed in the Civil War and to visit his family, posting online in an attempt to warn people of the upcoming Civil War.

*John Titor Forum Posts (2000-2001)

*While the character, who is obviously fictitious, has never called out of copyright, the fact that he is more of a hoax than a real fictional character (thus falling under [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estoppel factual estoppel], where you cannot go back and claim something that you said was real is fake to receive a better legal result) and that the creator has never came out or challenged works such as ''Steins;Gate'' which use the character heavily implies he is considered free to use by anyone.
*John Titor was actually trademarked for a period, by the unknown creator, however it has since been abandoned.
