'''Mert''' is the meek and timid spokesman for La Choy's canned chow mein meals. He is often paired with Delbert the Dragon, whose loud and boisterous personality and clumsy nature often leads to Mert keeping a strait face while speaking passive-aggressively to his co-worker.

*The La Choy commercials with Mert were released without copyright notices.
*La Choy remains trademarked.
*The character of Mert bears some striking resemblance to Henson's later creation, Bert from Sesame Street.
