Frankenstein was created in 1930 by a villanous American scientist Victor Frankenstein. As the narrative captions pointed out several times, the monster was actually named Frankenstein, unlike the creature from the novel, who was referred to as Frankenstein's Monster. This version of the monster was a rampaging horror from the start.

Bulldog Denny was Frankenstein's antagonist, but in the 24th issue of Prize, Denny gathered all the Prize Comics superheroes to fight the monster. These included Black Owl, Dr. Frost, Green Lama, General & Corporal and Yank & Doodle.

Later, the monster was brainwashed into working for the Allies, only to be brainwashed again a year later by a Nazi scientist.

The scientist Dr. Ullrich created a bride for Frankenstein called Mrs. Frankenstein in 1942, hoping to tame his violent nature. However, this potential redemption ended in flames when an angry mob burned the laboratory, killing both the bride and Dr. Ullrich.

In 1943, Professor Carroll's radical experiments briefly transformed Frankenstein into a civilized, human-looking being who aided the Allied war effort. However, after the monster reverted to his violent nature, the Nazis captured and brainwashed him into serving their regime. Allied forces eventually reversed this conditioning, turning their former weapon against the Axis powers.

The post-war years saw Frankenstein undergo his most radical transformation. Under Professor Carroll's continued influence, the monster evolved into a comical figure, starring in whimsical adventures that parodied contemporary culture.

This humorous version proved so popular that Frankenstein earned his own dedicated comic series in 1945, where he interacted with other classic monsters in lighthearted stories far removed from his horrific origins. Yet even this comedic phase couldn't last forever - by 1952, the monster would return to his terrifying roots.

In its initial 1930s-1940s run, the narrative establishes American scientist Victor Frankenstein as creating his infamous monster in 1930, with subsequent storylines progressing through World War II.
