Mary Gold and her family were the next door neighbor's of the Gumps. Mary gains the attention of two men, amateur inventor Tom Carr and the playboy son of a local banker Henry Ausstinn. She evidentially marries Tom but becomes bedridden with a fatal illness and passed away before they can go on their honeymoon.
