Sally Henny Penny is a hen that Lucie questions.

Lucie asks a hen named Sally Henny-penny but the hen just makes a clucking noise which sounds like, "I go barefoot, barefoot, barefoot."

In The Tale of Ginger and Pickles, Sally Henny Penny sends out a printed poster announcing her intention to re-open the shop. The villagers are delighted and overwhelm the shop on its first day. Sally gets flustered counting out change and insists on being paid cash but offers an assortment of bargains to the delight of everybody.Her shop is popular, however, because none of her customers are afraid of her and she has a wide variety of items on sale.
