The Humming Bird is a vintage giant helium character balloon from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Humming Bird balloon made its Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 1928 and was one of the first-ever giant balloons to be created by Goodyear. Not much is known about the balloon, but details on its release and subsequent findings have resurfaced. After the balloon was released by its handlers, the balloon drifted elegantly into the skies of New York City. Several days later, Lena Steiniger corralled the balloon with the assistance of a radio antenna. She returned the balloon to Macy's and was rewarded $100 cash. As with most other 1928 balloons, it was disposed of after its only use.
