Princess Tania, the Princess of the Sea, a kind and brave mermaid from the Kingdom of the Lower Depths which is ruled by her father the king . She saves John Garth from drowning and introduces him to her underwater world, where special chemicals allow breathing underwater.

Eventually, Tania falls in love with John and accepts his marriage proposal. she also later leads an army of sharks to defend her kingdom from the sea monster Killer Goro. She ultimately reunites with John after he’s rescued on the surface, revealing her mermaid nature to stunned sailors.
