Mrs. White is the wife of Mr. White and the mother of Herbert White. She is affectionate, practical, and initially skeptical of the monkey’s paw and its supposed powers. However, after Herbert’s tragic death, her grief drives her to desperation. She persuades her husband to use the paw a second time to wish their son back to life. When the knocking begins at the door, she becomes frantic and determined to let her son in, despite the horror implied by his mutilated state.
