Jenanne, a mysterious swamp woman who can transform into an alligator, cares for an escaped convict, Latham. When he discovers her secret, he attacks her in disbelief, ultimately believing that he killed her in the struggle. However Latham is then killed by Jenanne in her alligator form, and she later dies from her injuries. Their bodies are found by authorities, who recount the legend of the Bride of the Swamp, who according to the story was a girl who prays to the moon and transforms into an alligator.
