Silver Ear is a character from the story "Little Bear Bongo" written by Sinclair Lewis and published in Cosmopolitan.

She is a wild black she-bear living in the forest clearing where Bongo seeks acceptance after escaping the circus. She represents the untamed bear world that Bongo longs to join. Although Bongo is drawn to her and tries to court her, his gentle, civilized nature leaves him unable to compete with Lump Jaw, a dominant and aggressive male bear. Silver Ear ultimately mates with Lump Jaw and has his cubs, then fiercely drives Bongo away after hibernation. Her rejection becomes a turning point that pushes Bongo to abandon the wild and return to circus life where he settles down with civilized female bear from the circus.
