In the Grimm telling of the tale, Rapunzel and the prince conceive two children, typically depicted as twins—one boy and one girl. Rapunzel gives birth to the twins after she has been banished into the wilderness by the sorceress/witch following her discovery of the prince's visits. They accompany Rapunzel in the wilderness and are present when the prince (blinded by the thorns that grew around the tower) later reunites with the family.
