Anopheles Annie, once the glamorous “queen of the hotspots,” is now older, worn down, and struggling. She recounts her past to three younger mosquitoes, describing how she built her reputation by infecting soldiers with malaria and how mosquitoes continue to thrive thanks to careless people who ignore basic precautions.
