Sanoma Tora is the beautiful but proud daughter of the wealthy nobleman Tor Hatan. She values status and wealth, which leads her to reject Tan Hadron because of his low rank. Although she is the original reason Tan Hadron begins his quest, her personality is shown to be shallow and vain. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that she lacks the courage and character that Tan Hadron admires, making her less deserving of his devotion. Instead the escaped slave Tavia gradually earns Tan Hadron’s respect and admiration.
