The Rat Coachman is a character introduced by Charles Perrault in the folktale of Cinderella.

In the story, the protagonist wanted to go to the ball and needed a carriage with horses, a coachman, and footmen, so The Fairy Godmother asked Cinderella to bring the rat trap. The fairy took one of the three rats and turned it into a coachman with a magnificent mustache, then asked her to go to the garden and bring six lizards.

When midnight arrived, the Coachman reverted to being a simple rat.

*The role of the coachman is taken by other animals in some adaptations; in the 1950 film it is Major the horse and in the 2015 film it is a goose.
