The Scorpion Demoness (Xiezijing) is a major antagonist in Journey to the West, known for her fearsome nature and unique ability to injure even the Buddha and Sun Wukong with her venomous tail. In her true form, she appears as a giant scorpion the size of a pipa.

She resides in Pipa Cave on Venom Mountain near the Women’s Kingdom, where she abducts the monk Tang Sanzang in an attempt to force him into marriage. Despite her seductive efforts, Sanzang refuses, leading to conflict when Sun Wukong arrives to rescue him. A fierce battle follows, with both Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie struggling against her strength, until she ultimately stings Sun Wukong with her tail, forcing their retreat.

Afterward, Guanyin Bodhisattva reveals her origins and advises seeking help from Mao Ri Xingguan. It is explained that she once lived in Leiyin Temple and even once stung the Buddha himself before escaping punishment and fleeing to her cave. Eventually, Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie lure her out, and Mao Ri Xingguan defeats her by transforming into a giant two-combed rooster, finally subduing the demoness.
