Vanya Bizet is a dancer who murders her lover, Paul, by pushing him out of a window. Afterward, she is haunted by Paul’s ghost, which relentlessly torments her and unravels her sense of control. The haunting builds to a final, ominous dance in which Vanya is overpowered and thrown from a window herself, leaving her crippled.

The later 1957 version reprinted and redrawn in Dark Shadows altered the story, changing the plot and tone to provide a happier, Comics Code–approved ending with Paul still being alive, Vanya becoming a famous dancer, and the pair getting married at the end of the story.
