Aleena is the ethereal and ancient ruler of a hidden "land that time forgot" nestled behind foggy mountain peaks. Though she possesses the radiant beauty of a young woman, she has lived for over 1,500 years, maintained by a mysterious "strange fruit" found within her valley. On the cover, she is depicted in a flowing green gown, exuding an eerie, timeless grace.

She is never without her protector, Gog, a Cro-Magnon dwarf who is the oldest inhabitant of the land and has guarded her throughout the centuries. To maintain her realm, she is surrounded by a silent legion of Guardians—men from various lost eras of history who wear armor that was old when civilization was young.

While Aleena welcomes newcomers with a voice of "golden melody," she serves as a harbinger of a grim reality: while she and her guards provide the secret to eternal life, the price of entry is permanent exile, as leaving the valley results in immediate death.
