Denise appears as a beautiful, blonde woman in a green dress who meets the transformed Quadro and leads him to a magical "Castle of Heart’s Desire." She represents the ideal of unconditional love, telling Quadro she is the "luckiest of all women" to be with him. However, she is revealed to be a supernatural entity herself—a spirit of the dead from the very cemetery Quadro tends. In the final twist, she sheds her human guise to reveal a skeletal form, proving that Quadro’s only true "friends" and peers were indeed the dead.
