Ruby is Laura’s deeply envious and malicious sister who lives in the heart of the swamp. Consumed by her secret affair with Jack, she actively mastermind's the plot to get Laura out of the picture so she and Jack can be together. She shows zero remorse or sisterly affection, eagerly waiting for the local swamp horrors to "finish the job." Like Jack, her wicked intentions completely backfire when the monsters attack them instead. Despite Laura saving her life, Ruby is bitten during the chaos and suffers the same grotesque karmic retribution as Jack, transforming into a green, scaly monster at the story's end.
