Mary Hill is the devoted wife of John Hill and the fiercely protective mother of their infant son, Bart Hill. Determined to stand by her family, she insists on accompanying John to Australia when he travels to investigate troubling reports about his gold mine, declaring, “Where you go, we go!” Throughout the journey, Mary remains focused on her son's safety, growing increasingly uneasy as the family ventures into the remote Australian wilderness.

When their car becomes stranded and John leaves to search for fuel, Mary quickly realizes that they are in grave danger as local tribesmen approach their isolated campsite. In a final act of courage and maternal devotion, she hides Junior inside a hollow tree trunk, concealing him from the attackers and giving him a chance to survive. As the raiders close in, Mary defends herself with a pistol, firing five shots at the advancing attackers. Facing inevitable capture, she uses the sixth and final bullet on herself rather than surrender. Though she loses her life, Mary's bravery and quick thinking save her son, whose survival ultimately allows him to expose Edgar's treachery, reclaim his family's fortune, and preserve the Hill family's legacy.
