Ruth Birch was the daughter of Dr. Birch and one of the visitors welcomed into Camilla's hidden kingdom. Kind, intelligent, and resourceful, Ruth quickly became the target of Camilla's jealousy due to her growing relationship with Jon Dale. She was selected as a sacrificial victim in an attempt by Camilla to eliminate her romantic rival, but Jon's intervention saved her life. Ruth remained resilient despite the dangers she faced and often displayed remarkable courage when confronted with threats from both Camilla and the jungle itself.

As Camilla's obsession with revenge continued, Ruth endured even greater hardships. Camilla magically aged her decades beyond her true age and later manipulated her into searching for a new sulfur spring by threatening Jon's life. Nevertheless, Ruth persevered and successfully located the spring, helping to save Jon and ultimately contributing to Camilla's redemption. Throughout the series, Ruth served as a compassionate and level-headed character whose determination often helped resolve conflicts and bring out the better qualities in others.
