Nina is a graduate research worker who happily is marrying Chet, though she initially carries a bit of guilt regarding Brad's unrequited feelings for her. Following Chet's sudden and mysterious disappearance, she is left bewildered and vulnerable, turning to Brad for support while refusing to fully believe his claims that Chet deserted her. After Brad brings her to the lab, she is accidentally caught in the released gas and shrunk alongside him. Throughout the terrifying ordeal with the giant cat, she relies heavily on Chet's protection, and she ends the story comforted by the realization that they will eventually grow back to their normal sizes together.
