Ann Gora the Cat Girl is an initiate Cat Person from town of Shreckenheim trying to prove her worthiness to her group. Although well-meaning and polite, she is prone to blunder-filled mistakes—accidentally unlocking the City Dog Pound instead of the zoo's big cat cages, freeing a zoo gorilla, and unknowingly serving catfish to her leader, Mr. Leo Pard. Her chaos ultimately turns into good fortune when the gorilla she accidentally releases frightens an injured millionaire, Cyrus Klump, into walking again, leading him to fund a retirement home for elderly Cat People.
