Katherine McLintock is G.W.’s strong-willed wife who left him two years before the story begins to live as a socialite back East. She returns to Mesa Verde seeking a divorce and hoping to take their daughter Becky McLintock with her, but she eventually moves back onto the ranch. Katherine is intelligent, independent, and determined, but she often clashes with G.W. because of their pride and unresolved issues. Her belief that G.W. was unfaithful caused their separation, though it is later revealed that she misunderstood the situation. Despite their constant arguments, she still loves G.W., and the two eventually reconcile.
