Chic Carter was an ace crime reporter who wrote for the Daily Star. Originally, he was simply a two-fisted crusading reporter type, but when he was framed for murder, he became the costumed crusader known as the Sword to prove his innocence. Armed only with a rapier, the Sword was unhampered by the limitations of the law and could fight crime much faster than Chic Carter could expose it as a reporter. After proving his innocence, Carter would continue to use his costumed identity from time to time, but would also have adventures without donning his costume much like Tony Trent a.k.a. the Face. Eventually, he abandoned it altogether. His enemies included the Black Baron, the Black Death, Veda the Cobra Woman‎‎ and Velvet.
