Space Smith and his co-pilot/girlfriend Dianna (later spelled "Diana"), patrolled the universe, fighting threats like space pirates, aliens, and strange civilizations. These included the Leopard Women of Venus, the Hoppers, the Vacuumites, the Bloodusians, the Trekurs, and more.

One notable foe was the Thinker, who lived on a golden comet and controlled an army of headless men through thought. When the Thinker tried to capture their ship, Dianna sabotaged his computers, causing an explosion that left him unconscious. Without his control, the headless men turned on each other and destroyed themselves.
