Gullivar Jones was a former Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy who arrives on Mars thanks to a magic carpet. He falls in love with a Martian princess of the Hither Folk and fights the villainous Thither Folk. He however is not a very accomplished adventurer and fails to completely to win his princess' heart or defeat his enemies.

*Gullivar Jones was the inspiration for John Carter, Warlord of Mars.
*Gullivar has appeared in comics published by Marvel (''Creatures on the Loose'' and ''Monsters Unleashed'') and Dynamite Entertainment (''Warriors of Mars'' as well as in Wildstorm's ''League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'' series).
