Martin Hall was a scientist determined to solve the mystery of cosmic rays. After years of failure he finally learned to capture the rays, but with disastrous results. Overwhelmed by the cosmic energy Martin began to evolve, his body shrinking while his mind grew. He was just barely able to shut off the equipment before he evolved into nothing more than a giant brain. However, with his body no longer able to support his gigantic head, Martin built a robotic suit to support himself.

Later, Marto was drawn to the Green Sorceress' active mind in the subterranean kingdom of Voltor. He teleported himself there and pledged his loyalty to her. He manages to capture Blue Bolt, and decided to switch bodies so he could win the heart of the Green Sorceress and father a master race capable of conquering the earth. His plans were stopped however by the timely arrival of the Blue Army of Deltos who bombed the complex and trapped him under rubble leaving him incapacitated and possibly dead.
