The man known as Future Man is actually an average citizen of the year 3000. As a form of escapism from his terrible marriage and a life he felt dull, he idolized 1940s crime books and movies, as crime appears to have been abolished in his time. Finally acting on his fantasy to live a more exciting life, he travels back to 1949 and attempts to kidnap and marry Moon Girl using advanced technology from his time. Despite several failures, he does eventually subdue Moon Girl, only to be foiled by his wife Sarah, who came back in time to retrieve him. Using a "pacifier" to hypnotize and demean him some more they return to his era.
