Kirigakure Saizō was a legendary ninja warrior of the Iga-ryū school, who later became a leader of the Sanada Ten Braves, who fought for Sanada Yukimura in the Japanese Civil War of the early 17th century.

Kirigakure's arch-rival, Sarutobi Sasuke later became his best friend. Kirigakure means "Hidden Mist" and he is often portrayed as a magician associated with fog and illusion. He is generally portrayed as handsome and sophisticated, as oppossed to Sarutobi's portrayal as a feral creature.
