Hideous was a giant beast who served as an enforcer to Dr. Holmes, who was trying to break into business as an opium dealer. Holmes used Hideous to steal opium from doctor offices and to kill his rivals, until they were both brought to justice by Dynamic Boy.

Hideous seemed to posses superhuman strength and could strangle a man to death with one hand. Strangalation seemed to be his preferred method of killing. Hideous was not particularly intelligent and could barely speak English, using phrases like, "Me Kill! Me Kill!"
