Sound Wave led a one man crime wave, intimidating his victims using hidden speakers and then robbing them with his gang.

Janice Jackson (who was secretly Tomboy) overheard her brother talking to his friend Jimmy Sanders. Jimmy mentioned how his grandfather seemed to be hearing noises, and Janice decided to investigate.

She finds out that Sanders' nephew Edgar is behind the noises - using them to weaken his uncle's heart so he can collect the inheritance. Edgar is also Sound Wave's financier.

Upon trying to arrest Edgar, Tomboy is captured by Sound Wave. She manages to escape his clutches and defeat him.

Sound Wave possesses headphones, speakers, a truck with sound blasting canon and also knock out gas.
