Betty Bates was a talented prosecuting district attorney who mainly took on gangsters. Her enemies included criminals such as The Barracuda, Double-Cross, Killer Mack, Mr. Malice, and Professor Bone.

She was a resourceful detective, a tough brawler, skilled in jiu-jitsu and sometimes carried a gun.
