Tom Burton, 11 year old, is the nephew of Vince Harley, the Yellowjacket. Burton’s friends call him “Buzz” and “Yellowjacket Jr.,” both nicknames stemming from his hobby of raising bees. He gets in trouble with Scrappy Sneed, who is kept off the basketball team because of Burton, and the two are assigned to stage a war bond show. Burton pitches in with his trained bees, who understand and follow his commands but, Sneed’s cousin takes the bees for his wild animal circus, forcing Burton to use his bees as a weapon.
